Volker Küster
Volker Küster (* 1941 in Wernigerode ) is a German graphic artist and professor for communication design at the University of Duisburg-Essen .
Life
Volker Küster attended the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Oberschule in his hometown and from 1959 to 1961 he learned typesetter . Then he began to study graphics at the Fachschule in Berlin-Schöneweide . In 1965 he continued his studies at the University for Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig , where he obtained his diploma. He then worked as a freelance graphic designer. In 1984 he left the GDR and in 1985 became head of a writing studio in Hamburg . In 1989, Volker Küster became professor for font and typography in Essen . Today he lives in Weeze on the Lower Rhine.
Services
Volker Küster has received several awards for the most beautiful book in the GDR for his graphics . In 1982 he was awarded the gold medal at the International Book Art Exhibition in Leipzig. Today, Professor Volker Küster's special field of activity is designing fonts and typography.
