Štokov (German: Stockau bei Heiligenkreuz ) is a district of the municipality of Chodský Újezd in the Czech Republic and is located 6 kilometers north of the city of Tachov (Tachau) in the Upper Palatinate Forest (Český les).

history

Stockau was first mentioned in 1290. Until the abolition of the patrimonial rule, the place was divided into two parts between the manors Plan-Gottschau and Tachau. In the Middle Ages it was part of the "Tachau Lehensspiel" together with a knight's seat. At the beginning of the 17th century, old records also mention a farm, a brewery and an ironworks.

At the time of the Habsburgs, Stockau was part of the Austrian monarchy. The border with Bavaria ran a few kilometers from the village in the west.

The pastoral care for the villagers was initially taken care of by the Dechantei Tachau, from 1784 the village belonged to the parish of Heiligenkreuz (today: Chodský Újezd ). The village had its own school, which was also attended by children from the neighboring community of Pirkau during World War II . In 1939 there were 344 people living in Stockau. Between 1850 and 1938 Stockau was part of the Plan district.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Tachau district .

The Second World War ended for the German population of the village with the loss of their homeland. In the autumn of 1946, all of the forcibly evacuated Germans had left the village.

After the war ended, the community came to the rebuilt Okres Planá, which only existed until 1949. Until the territorial reform of 1960, Štokov was part of the Okres Mariánské Lázně. The formerly independent municipality was incorporated into Chodský Újezd in 1960. Until 1991 the place was - like the neighboring village Březí - on a military training area, which had a negative impact on the development of the place. In 1991 the place had 15 residents. In 2001 the village consisted of 15 houses in which 13 people lived.

Two historical stone crosses (expiatory crosses) have been preserved in Štokov, as well as some crosses and statues of local stone masons. The baroque chapel from the first half of the 18th century was renovated in 1993.
