Studánka (German Schönbrunn ) is a municipality with 525 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic . It is located two kilometers southwest of Tachov at an altitude of 611 m above sea level. M. in the Upper Palatinate Forest (Český les).

history

The first mention of Schönbrunn comes from the year 1407. The parish church was in Tachau . From 1776 to 1850 Schönbrunn was part of the Tachau manor. The castle formerly located in the village is no longer preserved today; in the 19th century it served the Jewish residents as a house of prayer. Some sculptures by master stonemason Georg Böhm have survived to this day, who lived here in the first half of the 19th century and died in 1853.

In 1939 147 house numbers were counted and 774 people lived in the place including the district of Helldroth. Many houses were destroyed when the place was occupied by the American army in late May 1945. The largely German-speaking population was expelled as a result of the Beneš decrees.

Community structure

Studánka has no districts, in the corridors of the municipality lies the abandoned after 1945 spot Pastvina ( Hell Threatens ).
