Maximilian Schmidt (politician)
Maximilian Schmidt (born October 19, 1983 in Dresden ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament from February 19, 2013 to November 14, 2017 .
Education, work and family
Schmidt is married and grew up in Winsen (Aller) , where he still lives today with his wife and their daughter. Since high school, he put in 2,003 Celle on Hermann-Billung High School from. He then studied political science and history at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover , where he completed his Magister Artium (MA) in 2011 . From 2003 to 2013 he worked as a personal assistant for the SPD member of the state parliament and former Lower Saxony finance minister Heinrich Aller . From 2015 to 2018 he was managing director of the Heimvolkshochschule Hustedt (Celle) education center , and since 2019 he has been managing director of the trade union education association ARBEIT UND LEBEN Niedersachsen . He is a member of IG BCE , ver.di , IG BAU , AWO and other associations and organizations.
politics
Schmidt joined the SPD in 2001. He is currently chairman of the SPD in the district of Celle , member of the executive board of the SPD district of Hanover and of the state party council of the SPD Lower Saxony .
In the Lower Saxony state election on January 20, 2013 , he ran as a direct candidate for the SPD in the Bergen constituency ; he entered the Lower Saxony state parliament via the SPD's state list . In parliament he was a member of the Committee on Budget and Finance and a member and deputy chairman of the Committee on Federal and European Affairs, Media and Regional Development. He has represented the state of Lower Saxony in the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe since 2016 . He was spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament for network policy.
In 2006 he was elected to the municipal council in Winsen (Aller) for the first time (re-elected in 2011 and 2016), where he is chairman of the committee for schools, social affairs, youth and integration. In 2006 he was also elected to the district council of the district of Celle for the first time (re-elected in 2011 and 2016), where he is a member of the committee for economics, transport and tourism and a member of the district committee as well as deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. As a representative of the district of Celle, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the General Hospital Celle Foundation since 2011.
