Heinrich Aller (born September 30, 1947 in Seelze ) is a German SPD politician and was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1982 to 2013 and Lower Saxony's finance minister from 1998 to 2003 .

Life and work

After graduating from the Herschel School in Hanover , he joined the police force and then studied English, sport and political science for teaching at the University of Hanover . During his studies he worked as a freelance journalist for various newspapers. From 1975 to 1976, Aller was the press spokesman for Lower Saxony's Minister of Education, Ernst Gottfried Mahrenholz . After the change of government in Lower Saxony and Werner Remmers taking over the ministry of culture, he taught at a grammar school.

He has been a member of the SPD since 1965 and then held various honorary functions in the party and with the Young Socialists . He has represented his party on the Seelze City Council since 1972 and was chairman of the “Social Affairs” committee. From 1976 to 1982 Aller was a member of the district council of Hanover. He was appointed to the administrative board of the Kreissparkasse Hannover by the district council. He was also a member of the general advisory board of Nord-LB. From 1982 to 2013, Aller was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament and was the longest serving member of the state parliament in the 16th electoral term. He did not run again for the 2013 state election .

From 1990 onwards, Aller was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, from 1996 to 1998 chairman. After the state elections in 1998 he was appointed Lower Saxony Minister of Finance in Gerhard Schröder III . A post he also held in the cabinets of the following Prime Minister Gerhard Glogowski and Sigmar Gabriel to 2003. Since then, he was chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance at the Lower Saxony state parliament.

Aller was chairman of the SPD sub-district Hannover Land from 1982 until it merged with the SPD sub-district Hannover City in 2005. He was then chairman of the merged SPD region of Hanover from 2005 to 2009. Since 2009, Aller has been chairman of the advisory board of this party branch.

Aller was named honorary chairman at the subdistrict party conference on April 27, 2018.
