Georg Strickrodt (born March 5, 1902 in Kassel , † February 28, 1989 in Darmstadt ) was a German CDU politician , head of the legal department of Hermann Göring Werke , Lower Saxony finance minister and professor of finance and tax law.

Before 1945

From 1922 Strickrodt studied law and economics at the University of Frankfurt am Main , University of Marburg , University of Leipzig and University of Göttingen . In 1927 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. From 1927 he was a councilor. In 1936 he said he was dismissed for political reasons due to the law to restore the civil service and was subsequently unemployed. From 1937 Strickrodt was in a leading position at the Reichswerke Hermann Göring as head of the legal department and was considered the right-hand man of Paul Pleiger , the chairman of the board of the Reichswerke. In 1938 he developed the plan to merge the iron processing plants in the Salzgitter area . He was u. a. Involved in the retrospective conclusion of the contract for the establishment of the Hallendorf labor education camp , the notorious camp 21, the Reichswerke and the Gestapo in autumn 1940 with the Brunswick state police officer, Horst Freytag , and the board member of the Reichswerke Wilhelm Meinberg . In this agreement with the Gestapo, this labor camp was referred to as the “Watenstedt Special Camp” for “police purposes”. The prisoners were guarded under the command of the Gestapo from Braunschweig, and the Reichswerke provided some of the guards free of charge. Since the site plan of the two labor education camps for the men's and women's camps, the latter of which was established in 1942, bears his signature, he was also involved in drafting the contract for the women's camp.
Evidently, he traveled on behalf of the Reichswerke to Holland to the iron rolling mill in Yjuiden and to France to the Minette iron ore deposits in Lorraine in preparation for the takeover of foreign plants or mines in the areas occupied by the Wehrmacht .

After 1945

From 1946 to 1950 he was Lower Saxony's first finance minister in the first three cabinets of Prime Minister Hinrich Wilhelm Kopf . From 1947 to 1951 he was a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament and professor at the TU Darmstadt at the Institute for Finance and Tax Law. He also held numerous positions in business and organizations, for example, after the war, he was a member of the supervisory board of Salzgitter AG , President of the German Road League eV , member of Expert Committee V of the German Atomic Energy Commission , member of the advisory board of the Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning and he was a member of the board of the Federal Committee for Economic Policy of the CDU .
