Bernhard Kreibohm

Bernhard Kreibohm (born August 9, 1925 in Hanover ; † June 8, 2000 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school in Hanover, Kreibohm was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1943 and then took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He suffered severe wounds during the war. After the end of the war he worked in the Hanoverian youth welfare department and was chairman of the state youth association in Lower Saxony from 1954 to 1956 .

Kreibohm has been involved in the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) since 1972 , to which he had been a member since 1945. From 1986 to 1996 he was chairman of the AWO district association Hanover and at the same time chairman of the AWO Lower Saxony -LAG. Since 1990 he has been involved in setting up the AWO in Saxony-Anhalt . He was also a member of the NDR Broadcasting Council. Kreibohm died on June 8th, 2000 from the consequences of a long-standing cancer.

Kreibohm joined the SPD in 1945, was chairman of the Socialist Youth in Lower Saxony until 1956 and acted as managing director of the SPD parliamentary group from 1956 to 1974. From 1952 to 1970 he was council member of the city of Hanover and from 1966 to 1970 council chairman. He was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1970 to 1986. From 1970 to 1974 he was first deputy chairman, then from 1974 to 1978 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 1978 to 1986 he was Vice President of the State Parliament.
