Maximilian Victor Odenius (born March 16, 1828 in Gothenburg , † December 29, 1913 in Lund ) was a Swedish medic.

Life

Odenius began his studies at the University of Lund in 1845. There he passed his exams as filosofie doktor in 1853, in 1859 the medical licentiate exam . In 1861 he became a doctor of medicine. He had been working as an adjunct and prosector in anatomy since 1860 . From 1875 to 1897 Odenius was professor for theoretical and forensic medicine at Lund University.

Odenius became a member of the Royal Physiographical Society in Lund in 1861 , the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1875, the Kungliga Vetenskaps- och Vitterhetssamhället i Göteborg in 1890 and the Royal Society of Sciences in Uppsala in 1896. For his 1906 translation of Celsus' åtta bökekonstencker om läkekonstencker ( Celsus' eight books of healing art ) Odenius was awarded the Letterstedt Prize of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1907.

Odenius is buried on Norra kyrkogården in Lund.
