Maximilien-Henri van Ypersele de Strihou

Maximilien-Henri van Ypersele de Strihou (* 1870 ; † 1941 ) was a Belgian diplomat .

Life

Maximilien-Henri van Ypersele de Strihou was the son of Joséphine Vandersnickt (1846–1943) and Raymond van Ypersele de Strihou (1843–1931), who participated in the Congo atrocities as managing director of the Ursélia Secunda cocoa tree plantation , a joint stock company in Mayombe .

Max van Ypersele de Strihou was accredited in Berlin in 1894 and in Paris in 1897 . He was first-class embassy secretary in Lisbon in 1901 , in Rome in 1903 , in Tangier in 1906, in Saint Petersburg in 1906 , in Berlin in 1908 and in Paris in 1910. From 1912 he was the Belgian envoy in Bucharest , Romania , in 1919 in Warsaw in newly formed Poland , in 1921 in Budapest in Hungary .

From 1926 to 1935 he was envoy to the Holy See . In mid-January 1931 he expelled the future Pope Pius XII. on the negative attitude of the German bishops towards the NSDAP .
