Maxym Volodymyrowytsch Wassiljew ( Ukrainian Максим Володимирович Васильєв ; born April 14, 1990 in Savorychi , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian cyclist who is active on the road and rail .

Maxym Wassiljew started his career in 2009 with the Ukrainian Continental Team ISD-Sport-Donetsk . In his second year there he won the second part of the day in the Polska-Ukraina stage race , where he also won the overall standings. He also finished second in the U23 road race at the Ukrainian championship and fifth in the elite class individual time trial . In the 2011 season, Vasilyev won a stage on the Sibiu Cycling Tour in Romania. In 2015 he was fifth in the national road racing championship .

Vasilyev has been a member of the Ukrainian national team at international track cycling competitions and started in the team pursuit .

doping

On the occasion of the Primus Classic 2018 , a race in Belgium , Wassiljew tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance methylhexanamine . As a result, he was banned by the UCI World Cycling Federation for ten months until August 29, 2019.
