Maya MacIsaac-Jones (born May 27, 1995 ) is a Canadian cross-country skier .

Career

MacIsaac-Jones started in Thunder Bay for the first time in the Nor-Am-Cup in January 2011 and finished 19th in the 10 km freestyle. The following month, she achieved her first podium finishes in the West Bank with two second places. In the following year she achieved 17th place over 5 km classic, 13th place in the mixed relay and eighth place in the sprint at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . She ran her first World Cup races at the beginning of the 2012/13 season in Québec and finished 23rd in the team sprint and 53rd in the sprint. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , she came in 36th place in the sprint and 13th place in the relay. Her best placements at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty were 25th place in the sprint and tenth place in the relay. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he took his first victory in the Nor-Am Cup in the sprint in Vernon . In the further course of the season he won the sprint in Cantley and finished in Prince George over 7.5 km freestyle and third in the sprint. At the beginning of March 2016, she came 49th in the Ski Tour Canada . At the first sprint stage in Gatineau she got her first World Cup points with 29th place. She finished the season in fourth place in the overall standings of the Nor-Am-Cup. The following season she came second twice and third twice in the Nor Am Cup. In Cantley she won the sprint and reached fourth place in the overall standings at the end of the season. At the 2017 U23 World Championships in Soldier Hollow , she came 32nd in the sprint. In the following year she ran at the U23 World Championships in Goms on the 47th place over 10 km classic, on the 42nd place in the skiathlon and on the 18th place in the sprint. In March 2018, she became the Canadian sprint champion in Thunder Bay.

In the 2018/19 season, MacIsaac-Jones won the sprint in Sherbrooke and the Canadian Championships in Gatineau . In addition, she was third in the sprint in Canmore and reached fifth place in the overall standings of the Nor-Am Cup at the end of the season. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she ran to 66th place over 10 km classic, 54th place in the skiathlon and 52nd place in the sprint.
