The McGaw Peak is a 800 m high and prominent mountain in the Ruppert Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It rises on the ridge between Land Glacier and Paschal Glacier halfway between Mount McCoy and Pearson Peak .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1972 after Major Hugh Roth Lee McGaw (* 1935) of the United States Army , logistics officer on the command post of United States Navy Support Units in Antarctica for Operation Deep Freeze in 1971 and 1972.
