The McLeod River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of Queensland . It is located in the Far North Queensland region .

geography

River course

The river has its source about 80 km northwest of Cairns in the Burton Ridge in Daintree National Park . It flows first to the northwest, then turns its course at the confluence of Reedy Creek and Spencer Creek to the southwest and crosses under the Mulligan Highway about 22 km west of the small town of Mount Carbine . Shortly afterwards it flows into the Mitchell River .
