Medalla Belisario Domínguez del Senado de la República

The Medalla Belisario Domínguez del Senado de la República ( "Belisario Domínguez" medal of the Senate of the Republic ) is the highest award of the Mexican government, named after the politician and doctor Belisario Domínguez Palencia . The first medal was symbolically awarded to his bust in the Senate Chamber on October 7, 1953. Since then, it has been awarded annually on October 7th in a ceremony. The awardees are Mexican citizens who have done service to the nation and humanity.
