Javier Barros Sierra
Javier Barros Sierra (born February 25, 1915 in Mexico City ; † August 15, 1971 there ) was a Mexican engineer , politician and author.
biography
Barros studied architecture at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and later mathematics. He taught for 20 years at the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria and the Faculty of Engineering, was among other things the first Mexican Secretario de Obras Publicas (Minister of Social Affairs) from 1954 to November 30, 1964 , then the first director of the Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo (IMP) , Director of the Faculty of Engineering and Rector of UNAM from May 5, 1966 to April 20, 1970. During this period, the student uprisings of 1968 fell there. Nine days before the Tlatelolco massacre , he resigned from his post and served as university rector only continued after the liberation of UNAM.
