Roberto Medellín Ostos

Roberto Medellín Ostos (* 1881 in Tantoyuca / Veracruz ; † 1941 ) was a Mexican chemical engineer and pharmacist and rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

biography

Medellín completed chemical engineering at the Escuela Nacional de Medicina until 1908. He was director of technical training at the Escuela de Ciencas Químicas of the UNAM and lectured at the UNAM for 40 years. He was Professor of Industrial Materials, became Director of the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria around 1923 and Director of the Escuela de Ciencas Químicas in 1929, Secretary General of UNAM in 1931 and taught at the Faculties of Engineering, Industry and Administration and Veterinary Medicine from 1932 . During Bassol's tenure as Secretario de Educación Pública , he was appointed Rector of UNAM on September 12, 1932 and held this office until October 15, 1933. Medellín was a member of the first advisory board of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and became its director in 1937.
