Valentín Gama y Cruz

Valentín Gama y Cruz (born January 21, 1868 in San Luis Potosí , † 1942 ) was a Mexican geography engineer and third rector of the Universidad Nacional de México (UNM).

biography

After Gama completed his training at the Instituto Científico y Literario, he studied at the Escuela Nacional de Ingenieros, where he was later director for two periods. He graduated in 1891 and received his doctorate from the newly formed UNM in 1910. During the Mexican Revolution , he took over the office of Rector of the UNM on September 11, 1914, after Chavez Lavista had submitted his resignation. During the presence of the conventional forces in Mexico City , the UNM was officially rectorless from December 4, 1914 to April 28 of the following year, and Gama was only able to resume office from April 28 to June 29, 1915.
