Samuel Ramírez Moreno

Samuel Ramírez Moreno (born February 22, 1898 in Mexico City , † 1951 ) was a Mexican psychiatrist and briefly rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

biography

Ramírez, son of Arturo Ramírez and Luz Moreno de Ramírez , attended the Colegio Americano and graduated from the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria in 1914 . From 1918 to 1924 he studied medicine at the Escuela Nacional de Medicina . During his studies he founded the Pabellón de Neurosífilis ( Neurosyphilispavilion ) of the Manicomio General . From 1926 he worked as a clinic director for the Escuela Nacional de Medicina, from 1928 as a professor of neuropsychiatry. He was president of the "Sección Psiquiatría y Neurología" (Department of Psychiatry and Neurology) and from 1929 to 1943 was a member of the clinical management of the Manicomio General . From July 27 to August 3, 1944, he headed UNAM as rector. He is the namesake of the psychiatric clinic Hospital Psiquiátrico “Dr. Samuel Ramírez Moreno ” .
