Balbino Dávalos Balkim

Balbino Dávalos Balkim (born March 31, 1866 in Colima ; † October 2, 1951 ) was a Mexican lawyer, author, diplomat and rector of the Universidad Nacional de México .

biography

Dávalos studied at the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia . He wrote some poetic works and was accepted at the Seminario Conciliar , where he learned Latin and Greek .

In 1888 he started working for a daily newspaper and joined the Liceo Mexicano de Cultura ( Mexican Cultural College ). From 1917 to 1919 he was a professor at the University of Minnesota and Columbia University and from May 11 to June 2, 1920 rector of the Universidad Nacional de México.

Diplomatic activity

From 1897 to 1905 he was employed in the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores and subsequently at the Mexican Embassy in London. Balbino Dávalos y Ponce was June 28, 1906 to March 3, 1907 Charge d'Affaires of the government of Porfirio Díaz in Washington .

From January 15, 1910 to January 9, 1912, he was Encargado de los Archivos de la Legación (Archives Commissioner of the Legation) in Lisbon . At the beginning of the First World War he was ambassador to Saint Petersburg . Venustiano Carranza dismissed all of Mexico's diplomats on the grounds that she had collaborated with the previous government . On March 26, 1920, Balbino Dávalos Chargé d'Affaires in Berne , the takeover of the business, in agreement with Venustiano Carranza on June 22, 1920, became ineffective .
