Ignacio García Téllez
Ignacio García Téllez (born May 21, 1897 in León , † November 14, 1985 in Cuernavaca ) was a Mexican politician and rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
Life
García studied law until 1921 at the national school of law , the Mexican Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia of the national university of Mexico, the Universidad Nacional de México (later UNAM).
In 1923 he replaced Enrique Colunga in his role as governor of Guanajuato . From 1926 to 1928 he worked on the editorial team for the Mexican code. From July 11 to August 1 and then again from September 4, 1929 to September 12, 1932, he was rector of UNAM, and thus first rector after the university received its autonomous status. At the time of the expropiación petrolera , the era of the state expropriation of the national oil industry companies, in the tenure of President Lázaro Cárdenas del Río , he worked in the Secretaría de Educación Pública as education secretary, he was the general secretary of thePartido Nacional Revolucionario (PNR), Attorney General of the Republic and Secretary of the Secretaría de Gobernación . In 1941 he became secretary of the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social . On January 1, 1944, he became director of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS; German : Institute for Social Security ) and held this office until November 30, 1946.
