Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social
The Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social (STPS) is the political “secretariat (government) for work and social welfare” in Mexico . As a government secretariat, it is like a ministry of labor .
The STPS is divided into three sub-secretariats for “Work, Social Security and Welfare” ( Trabajo, Seguridad y Previsión Social ), “Employment and Labor Policy ” ( Empleo y Política Laboral ) and “Humane Development of Productive Work” ( Desarrollo Humano para el Trabajo Productivo ). The Oficialía Mayor is also part of the STPS, to which the General Directorate for Information Technology and Telecommunications is subordinate.
The “Federal Administration for Occupational Safety and Health” ( Procuraduría Federal de Defensa del Trabajo ) and the “Federal Council for Conciliation and Arbitration” ( Junta Federal de Conciliación y Arbitraje ) are subordinate to the STPS .
