José López Lira

José López Lira (* 1892 in Salamanca / Guanajuato ; † 1965 ) was a Mexican lawyer and PRI politician, among other things briefly rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

López studied law at the Colegio del Estado de Guanajuato and was a participant in the Mexican Revolution . He later held various political offices. He was government secretary of the states of Guanajuato and Tlaxcala , sub- barrister of the state government, magistrate at the court of justice of the federal districts and territories, federal judge at the Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación , secretary general and from August 2 to September 4, 1929 then rector of the UNAM, and most recently Secretario de Bienes Nacionales e Inspección Administrativa in the Ruiz Cortines government from 1952 to 1958.
