Luis Garrido Díaz

Luis Garrido Díaz (* 1898 in Mexico City ; † 1973 ibid) was a Mexican lawyer and philosopher and rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

biography

Garrido studied at the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia , later the UNAM Faculty of Law , and graduated in 1922. This was followed by studying philosophy at the Escuela Nacional de Altos Estudios , where he later also taught. From June 2, 1948 to February 14, 1953 he was Rector of UNAM.

Garrido was the founder of the Asociación Mexicana de Universidades and was a member of the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua . He had several doctorates , including that of UNAM and Universidad Veracruzana .

His son Luis Javier is a political scientist and professor.
