José Natividad Macías

José Natividad Macías (born September 8, 1857 in Silao / Guanajuato , † 1948 ) was a Mexican lawyer, two-time rector of the Universidad Nacional de México (UNM) and a politician.

biography

Natividad first attended the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (ENP), then studied law at the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia and graduated in 1894.

President Carranza commissioned him to work out a draft amendment to the Mexican constitution, which laid the foundation for the Mexican constitution of 1917 as the so-called “Constituyente de Querétaro” ( German : Konstituente von Querétaro ).

During his first tenure as rector of the UNM from July 1, 1915 to November 22, 1916, he dealt with the proposal of the university that each student should pay five pesos per month for studying at the associated university schools and faculties. During his second tenure from May 3, 1917 to May 7, 1920, he took part in the debate on Article 3 of the constitution in December 1917. After the revolution he received a seat in parliament in the 16th legislative period.
