Xavier Cortés Rocha (* in Tampico ) is a Mexican architect and urban planner . He was briefly rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

biography

Cortés studied architecture at the Escuela Nacional de Arquitectura (Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM), graduated there as an architect and, after further studies, also as an urban planner. This was followed by further studies at the Urban Planning Institute of the University of Paris . Since 1968 he has taught as a professor at the UNAM's architecture faculty. In 1999 he became General Secretary at UNAM and was interim Rector there from November 12 to 17, 1999. He is currently director of the Sitios y Monumentos del Patrimonio Cultural des CONACULTA and president of the Academia Nacional de Arquitectos .
