Mario de la Cueva

Mario de la Cueva y de la Rosa (born July 11, 1901 in Mexico City ; † March 6, 1981 ibid) was a Mexican lawyer and philosopher and former rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

biography

After attending the Colegio Francés , De la Cueva studied law at the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia and later philosophy and history at the Escuela Nacional de Altos Estudios (ENAE) of the UNAM.

From 1929 he held chairs at the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia and at the Escuela Nacional de Economía . From 1938 to December 1940 he was general secretary and then rector until June 19, 1942. In 1945 he became a member of the first university board of the UNAM. From 1951 until his retirement in 1961 he was director of the Faculty of Law at UNAM.

As a jurist, he worked, among other things, on the editorial committee for the Federal Labor Act in the 1970 version and published numerous specialist articles.

De la Cueva was an honorary doctor from UNAM and the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala . In 1978 he received the Mexican National Prize for Science and Fine Arts in the "History" category.
