Willem Bernard "Pim" Jacobs (born October 29, 1934 in Hilversum ; † July 3, 1996 in Tienhoven ) was a Dutch pianist, arranger and composer of modern jazz and mainstream jazz , who accompanied his wife for many years with his trio, the singer Rita Reys was.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Jacobs was, alongside Rob Madna , Cees Slinger , Louis van Dijk (and later Rein de Graaff ), the most famous pianist of Dutch modern jazz. He began to learn the piano in 1940, won an AVRO jazz competition and founded his own trio in 1954 with his brother Ruud Jacobs (bass) and Fred Burkhardt (drums). In the 1950s he played in the Trio von Wessel Ilcken (drums, recorded in 1957 at Philips) and after his death made his own trio with which he accompanied his wife Rita Reys, among others (England tour 1957, Festival of Juan le Pins / Antibes 1960), whom he married in 1960 and with whom he recorded in 1957 (Philips, CBS). Members of the "Pim Jacobs Trio" were his brother Ruud Jacob and guitarist Wim Overgaauw and later the drummer Cees See ( followed by Peter Ypma ).

Jacobs accompanied with trio Stan Getz , Lucky Thompson , Donald Byrd , Julian Adderley , Herbie Mann (1956 recordings at Philips), Johnny Griffin , Bud Shank , Dusko Goykovich , Stephane Grappelli , Bob Cooper (1957 recordings at HMV) and Tony Scott . Jacobs released numerous albums.

He composed a lot for movies, TV and advertising. In 1958 he provided the soundtrack for the short film "glass" of Bert Haanstra , in 1960 an Oscar as best documentary short film received. In 1966 he performed at the Berlin Jazz Festival and in Lugano and Palermo, in 1968 in Zagreb and 1969 in New Orleans and also frequently in Eastern Europe (1963 Warsaw, 1964 Prague, 1964/65 Budapest). In 1967 he founded his own Go Go Club in Loosdrecht .

From 1986 he gave regular charity concerts with Louis van Dijk and Pieter van Vollenhoven under the name "Gevleugelde vrienden". He was also known as a TV presenter in the Netherlands; he moderated the music program “Music All In” (from 1967), Djez zien (from 1964) and the game programs “Wie van de drie” and “Babbelonie”.

In 2004 Rita Reys released the CD "Beautiful Love - A tribute to Pim Jacobs" in memory of him.

The theater and congress center in Maarssen is named after Pim Jacobs and was run by Leila Jacobs, the daughter of Rita Reys and himself.
