The 12 districts of Beirut

Medawar ( Arabic المدوّر) is a district of the Lebanese capital Beirut . It is located in the eastern part of the city. In the west it borders on the districts of Port and Saifi , in the south on Remeil .

Better known than Medawar is its Mar Mikhael district (Sector 75), which is often incorrectly assigned to the larger, more southern Aschrafiyya district . The three other districts of the Medawar district are Remeil (sector 72), Khoder (sector 76) and Jirs (sector 77).

A highway named after President Charles Helou divides the district into a northern part with port facilities and a southern part that extends to Armenia Street. The street, where numerous bars and restaurants are located, leads to the suburb of Bourj Hammoud , which was settled by Armenian refugees in the 1920s.

Individual evidence

  1. The district is not to be confused with the Remeil district of the same name .
