Mega Shark vs. Mechatronic Shark (Original title: Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark ) is an American science fiction - action film from the year 2014 . The production of the film studio The Asylum , known for low-budget films, represents the third part of the Mega Shark series and the successor to the 2010 Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus . Directed by Emile Edwin Smith , whose feature film debut this was. The moderately to poorly rated strip was first released on January 28, 2014 as a DVD and Blu-ray version in the United States ; sales in Germany started on August 8, 2014. With Mega Shark vs. A sequel to Kolossus was released in 2015.

A basking shark appears again in the world's oceans and again it spreads fear and terror. Its raging off the Egyptian coast ultimately results in worldwide panic and even a stock market crash that finally forces America to react. Since the US Navy has learned from the last, unsuccessful encounters with monsters of the same type, it puts a submarine developed by the military scientist Rosie in his way, which resembles the shape of a shark and is supposed to stop the monster and ultimately defeat it. However, since the destructive behavior of the "Mega Shark" requires rapid intervention, not all of the errors and weaknesses of its robot opponent can be eliminated - a possibly fatal circumstance in view of the approaching, decisive duel ...

The film, shot in Los Angeles and Long Beach , California , received some mixed, but mostly negative reviews. Peter Osteried gave the following rating for the website gamona.de, which rated the film with 5 out of 10 points:
"If you look at 'Mega Shark vs. Mechatronic Shark ', then of course it is clear that nothing is to be expected here that would generally be called a quality film. (…) [The] film… but has the trash qualities that one… expects, including the fact that the completely absurd story is presented with… seriousness (…) After all, there are a few idiocies that are good for… involuntary humor are (...) The CGI effects ... are acceptable, but implemented very, very cheaply (...) It is remarkable that Christopher Judge (' Stargate SG-1 ') and Elisabeth Röhm (' Angel - Hunter of Darkness ') ... everything to play with enormous seriousness. "
