Meijel ( listen ? / I ) is a place and a former municipality in the Dutch province of Limburg . The population is around 5,130 (as of January 1, 2018). The place has an area of ​​2.8 km², of which 0.02 km² is covered with water. On January 1, 2010, Meijel merged with Helden , Kessel and Maasbree to form the new municipality of Peel en Maas . In the 1930s, the Vossenberg Fortress was built nearby.

The Fietsallee cycle path on the North Canal runs through the village.
