Prussian quarter milestone near Lüttchendorf

The milestone east of Lüttchendorf is a small memorial in the lake district of Mansfelder Land in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

Milestones are part of the basic equipment of Prussian state exhibition lakes and used to be every 1.883 kilometers, which corresponds to a Prussian quarter mile . Such a quarter milestone is located east of Lüttchendorf opposite the Chausseehaus on today's federal highway 80 . This was built in the years 1824 to 1826 between Langenbogen and Nordhausen as a section of the Chaussee from Berlin to Kassel . The zero point of the street was at Dönhoffplatz in Berlin, where a zero milestone marked the beginning of the Chaussee. The stone near Lüttchendorf stands for the distance of 25.25 miles from Berlin, which corresponds to a little over 190 kilometers.

The distance indicator had been half submerged in the ground for decades before it was raised and set up again in 1999. It broke through and was being restored. Today the milestone bears the usual inscription 1/4 mile , which was weathered in the meantime, and was placed under monument protection in 2002 . It can therefore be found in the register of monuments with registration number 094 10217. Like all stones between Langenbogen and today's city limits of Eisleben, the quarter milestone of Lüttchendorf can be proven to date from 1826, when the lack of it was complained about.
