My Neighbors the Yamadas ( Japanese ホ ー ホ ケ キ ョ と な り の 山田 く ん , Hōhokekyo Tonari no Yamada-kun ), also known as the Yamada Family - My Crazy Neighbors , is a Japanese cartoon ( anime ) by Isao Takahata and Studio Ghibli from 1999. Er based on the Yonkoma - Manga Nono-chan (originally: Tonari no Yamada-kun ) by Hisaichi Ishii , for which an anime television series with 61 episodes was broadcast on TV Asahi from 2001 onwards .

action

The Yamada family, whose lives fluctuate between normalcy and madness, live in a Japanese suburb. The head of the family (Takashi) makes a living with a boring job in an office. His wife (Matsuko) doesn't think much of traditional housework or of work in general. The Yamadas have two children together (Noboru, the son, and Nonoko, the daughter). In addition to the children, the grandmother (Shige, Matsuko's mother) also lives in the house, who always has something to complain about, as well as the somewhat lazy dog (Pochi), who ekes out his existence in the dog house in the garden. So you can see that Mr. Yamada and his wife are fighting in karate style in the living room about the remote control of the television, or that his wife has once again not cooked anything and he has nothing but a banana for dinner. Noboru often wishes that his family were cooler, unlike his sister, who is happier with the situation. The main theme of the series, however, is the love of Takashi and Matsuko for each other, despite the regular differences, as well as the longing of the two to be the best possible parents for their children.
