Meinrad Dreher (born January 30, 1763 in Illereichen ; † March 13, 1838 there ) was a German organ builder who worked in Upper Swabia .
Life
Little is known about Dreher biographically. He grew up as the son of a carpenter and learned the organ building trade with Meinrad Ellenrieder in Mindelheim . In addition, he worked for Johann Nepomuk Holzhey for at least eight years . Around 1790, Dreher performed as a journeyman master together with Holzhey when the main organ was rebuilt in the Obermarchtal Abbey . In 1790 Dreher started his own business as an organ builder in his hometown.
His son Joseph Anton Dreher (1794–1849) also learned organ building and took over his father's workshop.
