Meinrad Heck

Meinrad Heck (* 1957 ) is a German journalist and author.

biography

From 1979 onwards, Heck worked as a trainee and editor in the local editorial office in Mosbach / Baden at the Heidelberger Tageblatt and in 1983 switched to the local editorial office of the Fränkische Nachrichten in Bad Mergentheim in Tauberfränk . From 1992 to 1995 he wrote several reports from the war zone in the Balkans for Fränkische Nachrichten . Since 1997, Heck has been reporting as a freelance journalist for the Stuttgarter Zeitung , the Badische Zeitung in Freiburg and the Rheinpfalz from the Karlsruhe area , and he also focused on travel journalism for magazines and the specialist pressSouthern Africa and the Middle East .

From 2000 to 2010 he was a correspondent for the Stuttgarter Zeitung in Karlsruhe . In his journalistic work since 2000, Heck devoted himself particularly intensively to dealing with the Flowtex scandal, about which he also wrote a book. In 2011/12, Heck worked for the context he helped found : the weekly newspaper in Stuttgart; there he left the project because of an unacceptable donation from the Wiedeking Foundation. For his reports he was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize in 1988 and the Wächterpreis of the German daily press in 2001. For his work on the report collection “We can do everything.” Filz, Korruption & Kumpanei im Musterländle , like the editor Josef-Otto Freudenreich and the two co-authors, was named Journalist of the Year 2008 by Medium Magazin in the Local Authors category excellent.
