Meinrad Pizzinini

Meinrad Pizzinini (* 1943 in Lienz ) is an Austrian historian and author. He wrote numerous papers on the Lienz district . His biography about the Tyrolean freedom hero Andreas Hofer, first published in 1984 and 2009 in the third edition, also received a lot of attention .

Pizzinini studied history , art history and German literature at the University of Innsbruck and graduated in 1968 with the graduation to the Dr. phil. from. From 1969 onwards, he worked professionally as the director or curator of the historical collections at the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum . Worked from the winter semester 1973/74 Pizzinini he also lectures at the University of Innsbruck, where in 1985 the Venia legendi "cultural history of Europe with special reference Tyrol" habilitated . Pizzinini was subsequently a lecturer at the Institute for History and European Ethnology at the University of Innsbruck.

Meinrad Pizzinini has been the editor of the "Osttiroler Heimatblätter" for many years, a regular supplement to the regional weekly newspaper Osttiroler Bote .

He was also the curator of several exhibitions in the Heimatmuseum Schloss Bruck near Lienz .

In 2008 he was awarded honorary membership of the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum, and in 2010 the ring of honor of the city of Lienz. In 2013 Meinrad Pizzinini received the Tyrolean Cross of Merit.
