Meisatal is a former municipality in Saxony , most of which are now part of Meißen .

The rural community was formed in 1921 by uniting four suburbs . The towns of Hintermauer , Obermeisa , Niedermeisa and Fischergasse (with the district of Klostergasse ) to the west and north of Meißner's old town entered into this relationship. The name of the municipality is related to the location of the two districts Ober- and Niedermeisa in the Meisa valley . A document mentions this brook, which flows into the Elbe just below the Albrechtsburg , as early as 1150 as “rivulus qui dicitur Misne”.

The municipality of Meisatal, which is part of the Meißen administration , had exactly 3,327 inhabitants in 1925. In 1926, the Niederjahna municipality on the Jahnabach was added. The Meisatal rural community was incorporated into Meißen in 1928 . Niederjahna left the city of Meißen again in 1937 and was reclassified to the Jahna community (today Käbschützal ). The rest of the former municipality of Meisatal still belongs to Meissen.
