The Jahnabach is a left tributary of the Elbe in Saxony . It rises west of the Mehren district of the Käbschützal community , flows through the Oberjahna district and finally flows into the Elbe after 7.4 km at Keilbusch . In the upper reaches, the stream is dammed by a dam in a pond . Other ponds supplied by the stream are located in the districts of Oberjahna and Niederjahna . To the north of Niederjahna, the stream leads through deeply cut valleys with abandoned quarries . Mica porphyrite and biotite granodiorite appear as rocks .
Notable plant occurrences along the shore include spotted arum ( Arum maculatum ), red butterbur ( Petasites hybridus ), cowslip ( Primula elatior ) and bulbous comfrey ( Symphytum tuberosum ).
The lower course of the Jahnabach is in a designated FFH area ("Täler southeast Lommatzsch", EU registration no .: DE4746302, state internal no .: 086E, registration status: 09/2003)
