Mel Lattany
Melvin "Mel" Lattany (born August 10, 1959 ) is a former American sprinter and World Cup winner.
At the Athletics World Cup in Montreal in 1979 , he was fifth in the 200 m and with the US team second in the 4 x 100 meter relay .
In 1980 the US boycott prevented participation in the Moscow Olympics . At the alternatively held Liberty Bell Classic , he won the 100 m .
1981 was the most successful year in Lattany's career. He won the 100 meter run at the Universiade in Bucharest and won several international athletics competitions over the 100 or 200 m. In particular, he won the 100 m at the Weltklasse Zürich and the 200 m at the Athletics World Cup in Rome , where he also took third place with the US 4 x 100 meter relay.
At the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris in 1985 , he was eliminated over 60 m in the preliminary run.
