Melanie Schliecker (born January 26, 1974 in Stade ) is a former German handball player who played for the German national team during her career .
Career
Melanie Schliecker started playing handball at VfL Horneburg at the age of six . With the A-youth of VfL Horneburg she became German runner-up. In 1993 the external player moved to the German Bundesliga club Buxtehuder SV . In her first season at BSV, in which she received only a few parts of the game behind the then national player Katja Dürkop , she won the Euro City Cup . When she was later deployed to the circular position, she made her breakthrough at Buxtehuder SV. She played for Buxtehude until 2006. During this period she scored 907 goals in 291 Bundesliga games.
Schliecker then joined the regional league team SG Handball Rosengarten . With Rosengarten she rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2008 . Two years later, he was promoted to the Bundesliga. She ended her career in April 2011. However, it was reactivated on the fourth matchday of the 2011/12 second division season. The 2012/13 season was her last season in Rosengarten. In October 2015 she made her comeback against the second team of TV Oyten at the upper division VfL Stade . With Stade she rose to the 3rd division in 2017 . After Stade was relegated a year later, she left VfL.
Schliecker played 114 international matches for the German national team, in which they scored 220 goals. With Germany she took part in the European Championships in 1996 , 1998 and 2000 , in the World Championships in 2003 and in the 1996 Olympic Games .
