Melvin Landerneau (born September 28, 1997 in Le Lamentin , Martinique ) is a French track cyclist who specializes in the short-term disciplines.

Athletic career

In 2014 Melvin Landerneau won the bronze medal in the team sprint at the Junior European Championships with Benjamin Gil and Sébastien Vigier . The following year he became European Junior Champion in the sprint .

In the transition from the junior class to the elite, Landerneau initially struggled. The national championships in 2016 were disappointing for him and he was not nominated for the following world rail championships . In two races of the Track Cycling World Cup 2017/18 he won silver in the team sprint. In 2018 he started the sprint at the World Championships in Apeldoorn and finished eleventh. At the UEC-Bahn-European Championships of Juniors / U23 2018 he was U23 European Champion in team sprint with Rayan Helal and Florian Grengbo , in sprint he took silver. At the U23 European Championships the following year , he won silver in the 1000-meter time trial and in the team sprint (with Rayan Helal and Sébastien Vigier). At the 2019 European Championships , he finished third in the team sprint with Quentin Lafargue , Sébastien Vigier and Grégory Baugé .
