The Menara Alor Setar is a 165.5 meter high television tower in Alor Setar in the state of Kedah, Malaysia . The construction costs of the tower, opened in 1998, amounted to 40 million ringgit . A viewing platform at 88 meters is accessible to the public. In addition to a restaurant, it also houses shops. Architecturally, the tower leans on the Space Needle in Seattle , whose splayed shape of the shaft tapers like a waist and widens again towards the tower cage.
It is the second tallest television tower in the country after the Menara Kuala Lumpur . There is a jump station for base jumpers on the roof of the tower cage at a height of 105 meters .
