Tower restaurant
A tower restaurant is a restaurant located on a tower or skyscraper , which is usually accessible via an elevator . Tower restaurants are designed in such a way that guests can enjoy the panorama while taking their meal and drinks . Tower restaurants are rotatably mounted in numerous towers and are rotated around the tower axis with the help of a drive ( rotating restaurant ).
In Germany, there are well-known tower restaurants on the Berlin TV tower , the Rhine tower in Düsseldorf or the Olympic tower in Munich - each built as a revolving restaurant. In many cities such as Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Nuremberg or Hamburg, however, the restaurant business was closed again. In these cases, the towers are no longer accessible to the public. The tower restaurant Steglitz in Berlin is a special feature, the only function of which is the catering outlets on three floors. The tower, quickly christened “ Bierpinsel ” in the Berlin vernacular , was built according to plans by Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte.
In Austria, the Danube Tower has two tower restaurants designed as revolving restaurants. Another tower restaurant is located on the Bergiselschanze at the diving tower.
In other countries there are tower restaurants on most of the larger towers with a visitor area, such as the Näsinneula observation tower in Tampere , the Eiffel Tower in Paris , the Kaknästurm in Stockholm , the Ostankino television tower in Moscow or the CN Tower in Toronto .
A tower restaurant can also be housed on another construction. The pylon of the New Danube Bridge in Bratislava supports a restaurant at a height of 84.6 meters.
