Menno Heerkes (born July 22, 1993 in Hardenberg ) is a Dutch football player .

Career

Heerkes began playing football in the youth of HHC Hardenberg in his native Hardenberg. In 2004 he switched to the youth team at FC Emmen . After five years of training there, he came to SC Heerenveen in 2009 and played there first in the U-17 and later in the U-19. In 2012 he received a contract for the second team in the Beloften Eredivisie . By 2014 he played 48 games for the team and scored four goals. In 2014 he moved to Heracles Almelo . There he initially only played in the second team, but was already part of the squad for games in the Eredivisie . However, he did not have his first assignments there until the 2015/16 season. In summer 2016 he left the club and moved to Germany to the regional league club SV Meppen , with whom he was promoted to the third division at the end of the 2016/17 season . After the promotion, he extended his one-season contract by another until 2018. In the summer of 2018, Heerkes moved back to his home country, the Netherlands, to HHC Hardenberg .

Menno Heerkes is the brother of Tom Heerkes, who plays in the Dutch third division. Both are the sons of soccer coach Gert Heerkes .
