Ekkehard Dennewitz (* 1945 in Leipzig ) is a German theater director .

Life

Ekkehard Dennewitz was born in Leipzig in 1945 as the son of the painter and graphic artist Gabriele Dennewitz , his father died in World War II . He attended the children's and youth sports school (KJS) in his hometown and passed his Abitur there. He then completed a degree in theater studies at the Leipzig Theater Academy, which he completed with a diploma.

From 1971 he worked as a director at the theaters in Cottbus , Rostock , Dresden and Leipzig. In Plauen and Neustrelitz he worked as senior director. He was appointed lecturer at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and at the drama school in Rostock. From 1991 to 2010 he was artistic director and director at the ( Hessisches Landestheater Marburg ).

In a Spiegel report in 1995, Ekkehard Dennewitz is accused of having been an unofficial employee for the Ministry for State Security between 1976 and 1989, with two interruptions of several years , which the latter emphatically denies. Former Justice Minister Gerhard Jahn , who was appointed as an expert witness in the matter, described the documents found as "meaningless little papers".

Ekkehard Dennewitz is married to the actress Uta Eisold .
