The Mentzelpark is located in the Berlin district of Köpenick in the Treptow-Köpenick district . It is named after Albert Mentzel (1839–1922) who owned the property.

Mentzel was the brother-in-law of the entrepreneur and councilor Carl Spindler and a partner in the laundry and dyeing company W. Spindler . Albert Mentzel's villa, to which a park belonged, stood in Oberspreestrasse and the property stretched as far as the Spree . The city acquired the park in 1925. Today this is part of route number 1 of the 20 main green routes that run through Berlin and the R1 European cycle route . In 2011 the borders on the slope were renewed. Since 2013 there have been plans to designate part of the areas as orchards .
