Mer-anch-Re (correct: Meri-Anch-Re) Mentuhotep is only known from two statues . One of these statues was found in the Amun Re temple in Karnak and is dedicated to Sobek . It is now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo . The other statue is now in the British Museum . Their origin is unknown. Based on the location of the statue, it can be assumed that the ruler ruled in Upper Egypt or at least in Thebes . Kim Ryholt therefore assigns him to his 16th dynasty , which he defines as Theban. Other authors see him as a ruler of the 13th dynasty.
