The Mercer Ridge is a distinctive and partly freezing mountain ridge in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . In the Ohio Range of the Horlick Mountains , it forms the southwestern end of the Mount Schopf massif .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1962 after the American geologist and glaciologist John H. Mercer (1922-1987), who had belonged to a team at Ohio State University to explore the Horlick Mountains between 1960 and 1961.
