geography
River course
The river arises in Lake Meston on the southeast slopes of Mount Rogoona in the center of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park . The river leaves the lake in a south-westerly direction and then describes a three-quarter circle over west, north and east around Mount Rogoona. Then it turns north and flows through the reservoirs of Lake Rowallan and Lake Parangana . Approx. 5 km north of the settlement of Liena , the Mersey River - diverted by the Gog Range - turns its course to the east to the east end of these mountains, where it turns again to the north. From there it flows to the north-northwest and joins the Bass Strait at Devonport .
