The Mescha ( Russian Межа́ ) is a left tributary of the Unscha in the Russian Oblast of Kostroma .
The Mescha arises at the confluence of its two source rivers Konjug and Mitschug , which arise in the northern Russian ridge . It flows mainly in a southerly direction and passes the place Georgijewskoje . Finally on the left it flows into the Unscha, a left tributary of the Volga .
The mesha has a length of 186 km. It drains an area of 2630 km². It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . 39 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 17.9 m³ / s. The river is ice-covered between November and the second half of April.
At least in the past, rafting was carried out on the Mescha .
