Mestanolone (also known under the name STS 646 or M2) is a methyl - derivative of dihydrotestosterone , which as anabolic steroid absence of clinical admission especially in state-organized doping system in the GDR competitive sport was in use.
Mestanolone has an androgenic effect of 97 points and an anabolic effect of 53 points (determined with the Hershberger test ). Since the intake is associated with a comparatively small increase in the athlete's body mass, mestanolone was preferably used in sports in which a relatively low body weight was important, such as jumping disciplines, gymnastics, figure skating, long-distance running and the lower weight classes in boxing and wrestling and judo. Mestanolone was also often taken in combination with Oral-Turinabol . The production in the GDR took place at VEB Jenapharm .
